Abstract

The crisis of listening abilities among digital native generation poses a significant threat to traditional pedagogical foundations in educational institutions globally. This generation, born and raised with digital technology, experiences drastic decline in auditory information processing, concentration maintenance, and complex oral communication comprehension. This study aims to develop a hybridization model of oral tradition and digital technology to address the listening ability crisis in digital native generation. The research employs a qualitative approach with library research method to examine the relationship between storytelling tradition and digital technology in developing listening skills. Data sources include journal articles, textbooks, research reports, and policy documents related to traditional storytelling, educational technology, and listening abilities of digital native generation from the last five years. Data analysis uses qualitative content analysis techniques including coding, categorization, and synthesis to identify patterns and themes related to the hybridization of storytelling tradition with digital technology. The research findings reveal that the hybridization model consists of five main stages: content preparation, technology integration, interactive delivery, responsive evaluation, and adaptive reflection. Each stage is designed to address specific aspects of the listening ability crisis experienced by digital native generation. The model successfully optimizes attention duration, content comprehension quality, and active participation of students while maintaining cultural values contained in storytelling tradition.
